A heart rate monitor is a device that measures how fast your heart is beating—your heart rate, in beats per minute (BPM). It lets you see, in real time, how hard your body is working during rest, exercise, and recovery.
How do heart rate monitors measure your pulse?
The device shines light into your skin and measures how blood flow changes with each beat. Heart Tech Plus uses version 5.0 version for increased accuracy while counting the beats and calculating BPM.
What is heart rate, and why does it change?
Your heart rate is how many times your heart beats in one minute.
Resting heart rate: When you’re calm, sitting, or lying down.
Exercise heart rate: Goes up when you move, run, or play.
Recovery heart rate: How quickly your heart rate drops after you stop.
Your heart beats faster when:
You’re exercising or moving more.
You’re stressed, excited, or nervous.
You’re hot or dehydrated.
It slows down when:
You rest or sleep.
You get more fit over time (often a lower resting heart rate).

Students can see your effort in real time.
You don’t have to be the best athlete—your colors show your work.
can set personal goals (more time in MVPA, better recovery).
For teachers/coaches:
Objective data instead of guessing.
Safer workouts—see if someone is too high for too long.
Fair grading based on effort and participation.
For anyone training:
Stay in the right zone for your goals (fat loss, endurance, speed).
Avoid overtraining or undertraining.
Snug, not painful. Follow the device’s instructions.
Move naturally:
Don’t stare at the screen the whole time—glance, then focus on the activity.
Watch the colors, not just the number:
Zones are easier to understand than exact BPM.
Use it to learn your body:

Since utilizing the Heart Tech monitors during our adopted physical classes:
Our students are able to visually see their heart rates as they are running on the indoor track and many of them are able to maintain twenty minutes in MVPA during their exercise session. Students are much more aware of their appropriate intensity during cardiovascular activity and their motivation to exercise has increased tremendously.

I like wearing the heart rate monitor because they motivate people to get higher heart rate and get more points so they don't try to slack and so they can do more.

"I love the HTP Home app! It allows me to train on my own schedule while still providing the guidance I need to improve my heart health. It's like having a personal trainer right in my pocket!"
